My Rabbit is a loud breather?

I have had her for three years and lately i have noticed her breathing has been audible, especially when she is excited. I read that respiratory problems are a common killer to rabbits! Can someone give me some advice? My Rabbit is a loud breather?
Time for a vet visit! Raspy breathing can certainly indicate some major issues, like pneumonia (lung infection), congestion in their sinuses that could indicate pasteurella or another upper respiratory infection, etc. Best to get her checked out and treated. Rabbits' breathing should not be easily audible.

Add: Well, depends on what it is as to the cause. Pasteurella, for example, is a bacteria carried by most rabbits. It usually does not cause problems, but if the animal is stressed, by temperature, change in routine, other illness, or another stressful situation, their bodies can stop keeping it under control and it develops into a serious infection. My Rabbit is a loud breather?
There is a Yahoo group ';Rabbit Vet'; that is a great source of information. Many rabbit illnesses can be treated at home.

If you do go to the vet, be sure they are familiar with rabbits. The wrong antibiotic can kill your rabbit. Even the right drug, given the wrong way can do more harm than good.

Educating yourself on rabbit disease and proper treatment is a great idea.
I would see a vet, or at least call a vet and ask for advice. A quick %26amp; free source of advice is this great Web site: www.rabbit.org.

Lots of answers on that site, and I think you can even send questions in to bunny experts.
